Due to the religious and cultural norms on the islands, the consumption, possession, or trade of alcohol is officially not permitted. We encourage you to respect local customs and rules during your stay. However, don’t worry – during your trip, you’ll likely come across places, such as resort islands or floating bars, where alcohol is served and sold. This way, you can still enjoy a drink in suitable locations.

We recommend packing lightweight clothing (for women: bring more covering clothing for when you leave the beach), swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, sandals, a universal adapter, and a small travel first-aid kit. For women, we also suggest bringing personal hygiene products, as these may not always be easily available on the island.
Additionally, don’t forget your travel documents (such as your passport and flight tickets).

The official currency in the Maldives is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), but the US Dollar (USD) is also widely accepted. You can pay with both currencies during your stay. We plan our trips during periods when the weather in the Maldives is generally most favorable: the dry season. This usually means plenty of sunshine, little rain, and temperatures ranging from 30°C during the day to a minimum of 25°C at night. The water temperature typically stays between 26 and 28°C. However, keep in mind that the weather can be unpredictable, partly due to the effects of climate change.

Just be careful not to lose your original SIM card, so you can use it again after your trip!
